Monday Motivation: Fail Forward
Monday Motivation, 2.26.18

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
Fail Early, Fail Often, Fail Forward
How many times in life have you put something off because you hate to lose or hate to fail? If you’re like me, probably more times than you care to admit because you remember how upsetting the feeling of failure can be. However, put those feelings behind you and continue to fail. Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.
Starting a new career, learning a new sport, going to a new school are all examples of new things in which you must fail in order to succeed. No one is going to be an expert on their first attempt. Failure is a learning process that will help get you to the top. The more you know about a topic, the more motivated you become to be the best you can be.
You hear celebrities, actors/actresses, and CEOs quote their failures all of the time. They weren’t able to become the best overnight. It took practice, motivation, and consistency to learn from their mistakes and move forward. Will Smith said it best when he quoted, “Fail early, fail often, fail forward.” Take the lessons you’ve learned from past failures and apply them to your next attempt. You WILL master that task, no matter how many tries it may take, and you can then move on to your next goal.
