Monday Motivation: Short-Term Focuses = Less Busy!
Monday Motivation, 9.24.18

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
I don’t have a quote, a book, a podcast, or a video to reference for this week’s Monday Motivation, but this has been a recurring theme of what I have been reading, listening to, and watching recently. This is something we already do on The Rogers-Long Team but it can easily be lost sometimes.
We ALL get caught up and become BUSY. That dreaded word we don’t like to use: BUSY! We have yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily goals but I am challenging everyone to look at those in reverse order. When we become so zoned in on the big goals, the smaller goals will get lost in the shuffle and even forgotten.
What we forget is that when we do not take care of the little things (like daily goals or action steps), it becomes increasingly difficult to hit the big picture goals. You begin to slowly separate yourself further and further from accomplishing the long-term goals if you lose sight day in and day out of the short-term goals.
If we prioritize and value each and every DAY, then we will far exceed the larger goals we set for ourselves. A classic mistake is that we always think we have MORE TIME. “I can push ‘that’ to tomorrow or later this week, this month, this quarter, this year.” In reality, if we do not hit the simply daily goals, then all we’re left doing is playing catch up each day after.
Let’s start prioritizing what is important each and every day, let’s not allow less important “to-do’s” get in the way, and let’s take small steps daily to accomplish our long-term goals!
Kevin Long, The Lead Agent for The Rogers-Long Team, has been in the real estate business since 2012. In 2014, he and Ben began The Rogers-Long Team, which produces $25,000,000+ in volume annually. In addition to selling hundreds of houses over the past 6 years, Kevin also serves as a mentor to less experienced agents on The RLT and in the company, and he spends most of the little free time he has working on his own personal home renovation project.
