Monday Motivation: May You Never Be Perfect

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
May I never be complete,
May I never be content.
May I never be perfect.
-Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club
I did not know what I wanted to bring for Monday Motivation, but something struck me when I read this quote from Chuck Palahnuik, author of Fight Club.
I realize some people will read into this quote and say that the constant search for perfection will never allow you to be happy. I see it as you can always be content and complete, but you should never be entirely satisfied. It can lead to boredom, stubbornness and becoming rigid.
We should make changes as new opportunities are presented; roll with the punches as new challenges are dropped into our laps. Perfection should be an unattainable feat because once it is reached, progression and evolution come to an abrupt halt.
Strive to be better each day, take on new opportunities, and accept new challenges. In short, TAKE THE CHANCE!
