Monday Motivation: Life is too short to hate Sunday night

Monday Motivation, 2.5.18

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
-Henry Ford
The thought behind this quote isn’t something that you necessarily have direct control over, it happens naturally amongst a group of individuals. The synergy of a work environment is something that cannot be reproduced, it cannot be taught, and there isn’t much training can do or dictated into an employee handbook. So, if you work somewhere that a Sunday night doesn’t give you a pit in your stomach, think twice before leaving for a little bit more money or an extra week of vacation. A positive work environment leads to a great product. When you don’t regret having to go to work every morning, your contribution to the team increases exponentially; you are more willing to share ideas, help a co-worker with a daunting task or even pick up the slack when someone is overwhelmed.
After having a recent conversation with a close friend, I was reminded of how fortunate I am to have found a group of people that share the same values, attitudes and the love of Pitch Perfect (that’s right – the RLT LOVES Pitch Perfect). Though this person loves what they do, they hate where they do it. When visiting a location of similar work, she sees how it can be, and they witness a team working together and the positive energy it is exuding.
If you work in a positive environment cherish it. If not, seek it or find a way to build it. Life is too short to hate Sunday night because Monday morning is on its way.
