Monday Motivation: Obstacles Determine Your Success

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
“I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed” -Booker T Washington
It’s not the obstacle that halts your success, it’s how you handle it. From daily to devastating, personal or professional we all have had our share of obstacles and of course, this will never change. What can change is how you approach it, your reaction to the constant obstacle or the piecing together of one that comes with an aftermath.
Allow these challenges to improve you, take the obstacle and turn it into an opportunity. Naturally you allow for an emotional reaction but no wallowing, no using it as a crutch to explain away the negativity. “When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you. Let is destroy you. Or you can let is strengthen you”.
What are you going to do next time you run into an obstacle?
