Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
“Always wake up with a smile knowing that today you are going to have fun accomplishing what others are too afraid to do.”
-Mark Cuban
It wasn’t too long ago that I asked myself the question, “WHY?” Why aren’t great things just falling into my lap? Why am I not in tip top shape? Why am I not as happy as I feel I should be? Well, the answer to all of those things is a simple one. I wasn’t doing what I had to do in order to make those things happen! How can great things fall into your lap when you don’t leave home? How do you get into tip top shape without training, eating healthy and pushing yourself? How can you be happy if you aren’t doing anything to activate your endorphins? Again, a simple answer, YOU CAN’T! Finally, I decided that not only was I going make a change for myself but for my family as well.
As I started my career in Real Estate, I noticed something. I felt good! IT felt good! The motivation became greater and I wanted more! My attitude was changing and I became excited to accomplish things that others were not. I began going to training classes, learning the business, and learning everything that I could (I will never stop training and learning). This in turn made me happy. I knew that I was on my way to becoming an agent that anyone would be proud to refer to their family and friends. As I studied and asked questions, I found myself wanting to be around a certain group of people in the office. They were positive, excited, structured, and regimented. After hanging around for meetings and training sessions, I was asked to join this group: The Rogers-Long Team. Great things are falling into my lap.
These things didn’t happen because I sat around and twiddled my thumbs. They happened because I worked for it! I did what I needed to do to better myself and, from here on out, will continue to do so. I jump out of bed at 4am daily and put a smile on my face knowing that I’m getting a head start to my day. I know that from that moment on, from working out, calling my clients, asking them for referrals to just stopping by with a token of my appreciation for them, I’m doing things that others either won’t do or are too afraid to do. This is a life lesson not to be taken lightly. You get what you give, and what better way to do it than with a smile on your face! Oh! You want to know if I’m in tip top shape? Well, we’ll just say, I’m getting there, one morning smile, one day, one workout and one positive step at a time. Are you willing to do what others are too afraid to do? It may just be the best decision that you ever make!
