Monday Motivation: Turn your setbacks into combacks!

Monday Motivation: Turn your setbacks into combacks!

Monday Motivation, 7.23.18

Written by: Whitney Contaoi

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.

After joining the Rogers-Long team on April 27th of this year, I started to do all of the things that a good Real Estate agent does in order to work by referral. By the end of May, I knew that something wasn’t quite right with me. By June, I had to completely step back from my work life in order to take care of myself. Today is my first day back with my team. My goals are in place and I’m ready to do all that it takes to achieve them, and that inspired me to write this!

You’re full of energy and excitement. You are barreling full speed ahead and you know that every bit of work that you’re putting in is paying off! You’ve turned good practices into habits and nothing can stop you, until it does. At this point, you have a choice to make. Do you let a setback define you, or do you pick your ass up and head towards your ultimate goals harder, faster and with a greater passion than ever? Is it easy to let a setback get you down or question yourself? Yes! A setback can make even the strongest feel defeated! It’s what you tell yourself and the action put forth after those feelings creep in that can make your comeback great. It’s this moment that will define you and your character. Take a moment, a deep breath and turn your setback into a comeback! Set the bar high for yourself and go! Remember, no one ever got it all right the first time. Some of the world’s greatest achievements came after someone suffered a major setback. Think of it as a fresh start to the next chapter in your amazing life! Never give up and watch your dreams become reality.

Whitney Contaoi, a Realtor with The Rogers-Long Team since 2018, is from Orange County, VA. Growing up playing competitive softball, Whitney knew she’d be able to apply her competitive edge towards anything having to do with sales. After successful careers in both car sales & jewelry sales, Whitney made the decision to become a stay-at-home mom for 6 years to spend more time with her son, JJ. Towards the end of 2017, Whitney was ready to get back in the game and wanted to do something for herself that would also benefit her family. The RLT welcomed Whitney with open arms in April of 2018 due to her strong combination of compassion, patience, persistence, and competitiveness.
