Monday Motivation: Create your own life story
Monday Motivation, 10.8.18

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
“I love a success story, but even more than a success story; I like a dude who screws his life up and gets his life together again story.”
Every struggle in your life has shaped you into the person you are today. Be thankful for the hard times; they can only make you stronger.
When everything seems to be going wrong, take inventory of all of the things that are right and beautiful in your life. Know that the challenges in your life are just that, challenges. They are there to give you strength, wisdom and growth. Sometimes a challenge will get you down, we are all human and that is understandable. However, do not sit around on that pity pot for too long. Instead, devise a plan on how to turn that pity pot into a throne of untiring will and strength and turn your situation into your greatest accomplishment. See it as an opportunity to fight harder, work harder and exceed everyone’s expectations but most importantly, exceed your own expectations!
Twenty minutes of doing something is more valuable than twenty hours thinking about doing something.
Not everyone in life is going to cheer for you. There won’t always be someone there to motivate you. These are the times that you have to dig deep down, find your discipline and make things happen by doing! Do not talk down to yourself. Speak positively, be kind, keep a smile on your face and if necessary, fake it till you make it! Nothing in life comes easy, and if it does, is it really worth having? Nothing feels better than achieving something that you’ve worked hard for, something that you’ve overcome adversity for. Not all struggles are the same but we all have them from time to time. What does make them similar is that we all have the ability to make a choice to do what is necessary to overcome it. Believe in yourself, push yourself, become a smarter, wiser, happier, more productive you and then, celebrate all that you’ve accomplished at the end of what you saw originally as a struggle. Under enough pressure, we all have the ability to turn our coal into a diamonds.
Sometimes the most powerful and life changing work rises from the smoldering ashes of destruction.
Whitney Contaoi, a Realtor with The Rogers-Long Team since 2018, is from Orange County, VA. Growing up playing competitive softball, Whitney knew she’d be able to apply her competitive edge towards anything having to do with sales. After successful careers in both car sales & jewelry sales, Whitney made the decision to become a stay-at-home mom for 6 years to spend more time with her son, JJ. Towards the end of 2017, Whitney was ready to get back in the game and wanted to do something for herself that would also benefit her family. The RLT welcomed Whitney with open arms in April of 2018 due to her strong combination of compassion, patience, persistence, and competitiveness.
