Monday Motivation: Cultivating Quality

Monday Motivation: Cultivating Quality

Monday Motivation, 1.14.19

Written by: Kevin Long

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.

The principal of quality…in little ways. Most people think they can wait around for the big moments and turn it on. But if you don’t cultivate ‘turning it on’ as a way of life in the little moments (and there are hundreds of times more little moments than big) and there’s no chance in the big moments. I believe that when you’re not cultivating quality you’re essentially cultivating sloppiness.

This excerpt hits on a common theme for our Monday Motivations. Pay attention to the little things. Don’t neglect them because they are small or insignificant. We want to work on creating good habits and put in actual effort. By doing small insignificant things half-ass, you are telling yourself that it is ok to half-ass it. What happens when something significant comes along? Turning on a switch doesn’t always work. If we work and prepare and make the small things…significant, when that big moment comes along, it is just business as normal. You treat each situation the same because you have adopted the mindset of doing things the right way, every time. If you want to be great, treat each situation as such.

Kevin Long, The Lead Agent for The Rogers-Long Team, has been in the real estate business since 2012. In 2014, he and Ben began The Rogers-Long Team, which produces $25,000,000+ in volume annually. In addition to selling hundreds of houses over the past 6 years, Kevin also serves as a mentor to less experienced agents on The RLT and in the company, and he spends most of the little free time he has working on his own personal home renovation project.
