Monday Motivation: Just Give it a Shot!

Monday Motivation: Just Give it a Shot!

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.

If I’m being completely honest, the inspiration for today’s blog came from the “aging challenge” that’s been going around Facebook for the last few days. If you haven’t seen/heard of this, it was a ‘challenge’ to upload your first profile picture next to your current profile picture to compare the difference and see how you’ve aged over the years. After scrolling through endless comparisons on my newsfeed, the one that stuck out the most to me was a comparison of Carrie Underwood. The early picture was of her during her American Idol audition and the now picture was of her performing at the CMA’s. Her quote from before the audition, “It’s stupid. What chance do I really have?”, was underneath the pictures.

Imagine if Carrie Underwood would have let her self-doubt get the best of her and stayed home that day. Think about how different her life would be today. She went from ‘the country girl who was about to fly on a plane for the first time’ to one of the most successful artists in any musical genre. It’s important for us to remember that most of the inspiring people in today’s society were not born into greatness. They created their own success with focus, hard work, and dedication to their goals.

So, the next time you are on the fence about something, take a look back to where you were when you first started compared to where you are now. Whether you work in sales, marketing, education, photography, or anything else customer service driven, you are good at what you do! People hire you because you possess a set of skills they do not have themselves. My challenge for you in 2019 is to be brave and try something new. You could be making a life changing decision just by giving it a shot!

Kaitlyn Gwaltney, a Realtor with The Rogers-Long Team since 2016, previously worked in the medical field for 6 years before deciding to shift her compassion and dedication toward helping others in a different direction. The RLT excitedly brought Kaitlyn on to work with buyers and sellers due to her humility, inner drive to succeed, and her fun-loving attitude. Kaitlyn has found a lot of early success in her career on The Rogers-Long Team, and has already produced more in 6 months in 2018 than she did all of 2017!
