Monday Motivation: Life Is Short

Monday Motivation: Life Is Short

Monday Motivation, 6.3.2019

Written by: Stacy Tolbert

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.

Life is short, Time is fast. No replay. No rewind. So, enjoy every moment as it comes, give yourself permission to occasionally veer off task.

I wanted to take a moment this week to remind you to still do the little things along the way and to not forget about those around you, those who have helped mold who you are. Take a moment to give your child an extra hug or 30 more minutes of one on one time, send your spouse a random message that you love them and that you were thinking of them, write your grandmother a note with a great memory retold, take a friend out for coffee that you haven’t seen in awhile and when they ask why, you tell them, “I was just thinking of you”.

We can often get wrapped up in our day to day that we, without consciousness of it, allow those that have influenced our lives to fall to the wayside, slip out of our thoughts and then before we know it, it is too late. This impact also affects those who are in our day to day lives, put down the phone, push off a chore and take that time to spend with someone. The next time you share a cup of coffee or chase a ball around the park I want you to remember that feeling of happiness that it brought and the moment you realize that it wasn’t inconvenient and you are glad you did, this way maybe you will do it more often.

I would like to present the challenge of paying it forward, I along with a room full of grieving souls were presented with this yesterday as we mourned a man’s life who is gone too soon. He believed “small acts can have a big impact”. Often when the notion of pay it forward is brought up, we think of paying it forward to a stranger, which is a wonderful thing but this week make it more intentional, do something for a family member, friend, someone who you haven’t seen lately.

Don’t leave any regrets out there. Life is too short not to do the small things, remember small acts can have a big impact. Give your full attention, call a friend and laugh over the phone because you thought of something dumb you did together, write a note, spend a moment teaching something to your child (no matter their age). Enjoy life’s little moments, be a good memory in someone’s mind because these can’t be taken away.

Stacy Tolbert, The Transaction Coordinator for The Rogers-Long Team: Powered by Hometown Realty, was a client of Ben & Kevin’s in 2015. After hiring The RLT for her family’s move, Ben returned the favor and hired her to come work with the team! Stacy’s primary role is coordinating transactions from contract to close.  In her spare time, you can find Stacy working in the garden, tasting Craft Beer, or managing her three fantasy football teams!
