Monday Motivation: Work In Progress

Monday Motivation: Work In Progress

Monday Motivation, 6.10.19

Written by: Dawn Paciocco

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.

Everyone wants to work on themselves, but how many of us actually do it. My almost 70 year old mother has been taking a spirituality course for the past two years.  Once a month she would leave her home on a Friday afternoon and spent the entire weekend at Richmond Hill with 14 other women.  Over the past 2 years she wrote countless papers, and she read 20 books as part of the program.  All of this, she did by choice. The course came to an end today. She “graduated”. She didn’t receive a diploma at the end of the course.  She doesn’t get a fancy title at the end of her name because she took the course.  Momma did it because she wanted to do this for herself.   Not because she had to, because she wanted to. It was something that was important to her, and even at almost 70 years old, she is still growing and learning, making herself better.  Better for herself, not for anyone else.

There are people everywhere working hard to get better, improve, change themselves or something in their lives every day. People have business goals, weight loss goals, people want to eat healthy, personal growth, & athletic goals. The list is never ending. The truth is we are all a work in progress every day.  The work is never done. A little progress everyday will add up to big results.

It was not easy for a 70 year old who for the past 2 years had a “full time job” of taking care of my kids, and for the last 2 months an infant.  She WANTED it so she made it happen.  She had the desire and the determination to make herself better.  I challenge you, if there is something in this world you want for yourself, put up the “WORK IN PROGRESS” sign and make it happen!   After all, if Momma ain’t happy, no one is happy!

Dawn Paciocco joined The Rogers-Long Team in September 2018 as the team’s Client Care Coordinator. Dawn spent 17 years in the financial services industry and much like Stacy, was first a client of Ben & Kevin’s before joining the team. After a couple years discussing the possibility of Dawn joining, The RLT excitedly brought her on due to her fun-loving attitude and belief in the team’s mission to build an army of people that does good, becomes better, and strives to be the best.
