Monday Motivation, 10.21.19

Written by: Dawn Paciocco

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.

In addition to ending each Monday meeting with a Monday Motivation, The RLT goes around the room and  each team member says something positive. This can be anything positive.  My go to each week was always something positive that my kids had done or we just had a great weekend with friends.  I was challenged a couple months ago to ONLY say something positive about myself.  I can’t.  It is so hard for me.  It’s just as hard as writing a Monday Motivation for our army to read. So while I had started writing this weeks Monday Motivation on setting goals, I quickly needed to change it when my panic set in trying to come up with something positive to say about myself.

I realize need to learn how to select my thoughts about myself the same way I select my clothes every day. It should be that simple.  I have to work on my mind. My mind is the only thing I should be trying to control to help with my self-love. Sounds so simple right?

So how can I fix this…and like any other goal or challenge in my life, sometimes I need to look for help.

Who can hold me accountable? Who can motivate me to be more positive about myself? The reality is that the person can change from day to day. Sometimes we have the fire from inside ourselves to help yourself, and sometimes it takes a village to get you where you need to be.  Your village can be the best way to keep your inner voice positive, motivated and going for it.  Self-love can be challenging because it is just easier to find something to love about others than about ourselves. The RLT has already helped me move in the right direction by challenging me each Monday morning to say something positive about MYSELF. While I still  struggle with this, I am at least getting help and working on it.

Last week Stacy challenged us to say our Mantra.  My mantra changed all week to fit different situations I was in, to help me get through them.  So this week, I am challenging myself, and hope you will all join me, in finding something to show yourself self-love. I know for some (Ben), this maybe simple and easy to write something down right away.  But for those that need a little extra help loving yourself, your not alone, I am right there with you and hope you can find something to fill in the blank below.  Because it is important to:

Be You.              Love You.           ALL WAYS.        ALWAYS.

This week I will love myself by ________________.

Dawn Paciocco joined The Rogers-Long Team in September 2018 as the team’s Client Care Coordinator. Dawn spent 17 years in the financial services industry and much like Stacy, was first a client of Ben & Kevin’s before joining the team. After a couple years discussing the possibility of Dawn joining, The RLT excitedly brought her on due to her fun-loving attitude and belief in the team’s mission to build an army of people that does good, becomes better, and strives to be the best.
