Monday Motivation: If You Are Prepared, You Don’t Feel Pressure

Every Monday, The Rogers-Long Team meets for one of its two weekly meetings. The Monday meeting always ends with “Monday Motivation” in which a few minutes are spent listening to one team member presenting a quote, a quick reading from a book, a scene from a movie, or anything else they find motivating to provide a “spark” to the whole team on a Monday morning.
If you are prepared, you don’t feel pressure.
The is nothing to be nervous about if you have already done everything to get ready. Preparation calms the nerves, eases the jitters and allows a sense of confidence and calm. This being Veterans Day, there is no better example of this than the US military. Battles are won before they are fought. The enemy (or competition) does not stand a chance because there is a plan for every outcome. When obstacles arise, the response becomes automatic. There are no “what if’s” or second guessing. The ability to pivot without hesitation is what separates the winners and losers. Study, plan, prepare. It is what makes the good ones great. The harder you work the luckier you get. And it is not because you were lucky, it is because you were prepared, put yourself in a place to succeed and were ready for the moment.
