Maura Long
Maura was born and raised in Hanover County. A 2014 Hanover High School graduate, Maura served as a class president and captain of the softball team. From Hanover, Maura took off for Harrisonburg where she attended James Madison University. Maura majored in Sports and Recreation Management and found her passion for sports for social change and building relationships through corporate sponsorships. Eventually, Maura moved back to Richmond and through some fabulous JMU professors and alumni, Maura landed a job on staff at Special Olympics Virginia (SOVA). Maura was smitten with the athletes, volunteers, and the mission of Special Olympics. For several years she planned state championships, created volunteer education initiatives, and worked with the athlete leadership programs.
Maura has three older brothers… you may see a slight resemblance to lead agent, Kevin. While working for Special Olympics, Maura partnered with the RLT Army to participate in the Polar Plunge fundraiser for SOVA. She got to see first-hand the strong relationships Kevin had with his clients and the good the RLT army was able to do in the community. Shortly after, team leader Ben convinced her that the best part of real estate was creating an army of people that DOES GOOD in our community. It was history from there. At the start of 2021, Maura officially enlisted as an agent of the RLT. She trained with Kevin for months and quickly found her niche serving first-time homebuyers.
In her first 2+ years of Real Estate, Maura has helped over seventy-five clients get into their new homes, and over fifty of those were first-time homebuyers. She has earned several awards from Hometown Realty, including the “Rookie of the Year” and the “Treat People the Way You Want to be Treated” awards. For Maura, people are her priority, and Richmond is her home. She is passionate about creating a positive real estate experience and is focused on education and preparation. Her goal is to build relationships with clients that last long after the real estate transaction ends.
Maura serves as Vice President of the JMU Hart School Alumni Network and is heavily involved with Special Olympics Virginia (SOVA). She serves on the SOVA Young Professionals Board and volunteers as a Unified Partner and coach. Maura spends her free time with her sweet niece and three nephews, hosting and attending social gatherings, and exploring the Richmond restaurant scene with friends, family, and clients.
